Why is the shop named Turtle Rock?

Turtle Rock is a small, rocky peninsula at Loch Raven Reservoir, not far from the Warren Road steel bridge. There, my friends and I would stop to rest and refuel on our mountain bike rides around the trails in the northern part of the reservoir, the “Upper Loop”.

We may have swam there, but it cannot be proven.

Just to the right of the outcropping of rocks, there was a small log that stuck out of the water at a shallow angle. On sunny days, the Eastern Painted Turtles would line up on the log to sun themselves.

And so… it became known as “Turtle Rock.”

Those great memories of friendship and fun surrounding our love of bikes and trail riding led my desire to create a similar, friendly, welcoming place for all types of bike riders in this new bike shop.
